William Broderick Crawford
was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1911.

Mr. Crawford first broke in to show business when he played the part of
the simple-minded giant Lenny in John Steinbeck's Broadway adaptation of
Of Mice and Men.
It was after this Broadway success that he moved to Hollywood and made
his cinema debut with a supporting role
in the comedy, Woman Chases Man (1937)
