I would answer this way;
There is an adage that says,
there is a principle which
is a bar against all information,
which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance and that principle is

In the time that I have been working online, 2010 I have seen many instances where people, generally younger persons have made some very misinformed statements!
I have seen this through the comment streams on social media platforms. An example of this is when I saw a comment by a young man that said, that "... a wise man said ... blah, blah, blah." I asked the person who the wise man was, and he came back with the name, *John Lennon. The person had quoted a line from one of John Lennon's songs. I found out through that comment and from others that these individuals wish to know truth! People don't want to be in the dark, or left in ignorance!
As for religion being responsible for suicide - I looked up some statistics about it. The overwhelming evidence is that it is not responsible for suicide. In fact, the contrary is true. 1) ... evidence that religion protects against suicide is strongest in Latin America, where a one percent increase in religious participation is associated with 3 percent decrease in suicide rates. ~`
2) Persons who attend religious services, on average, are generally believed to exhibit much lower rates of suicide. Those who attend church frequently are four times less likely to commit suicide... ~`
3) Much of the evidence that religion provides a protective factor against completed suicide comes from cross-sectional studies. This issue of the Journal (Royal College of Psychiatrists, 2014) includes a report of a new prospective study. An understanding of the relationship between spirituality, religion and suicide is important in assessing and caring for those at risk. ~`
4) From Gallop: Gallup Polls from 2005 and 2006 show that countries that are more religious tend to have lower suicide rates. ~`
By the way, I've see that suicide is a leading cause of death worldwide. It accounts for 800,000 deaths per year, which ranks in the top three leading causes of death for persons 15 to 44 years old.
