What Is Beta Carotene?

This is a red-orange pigment that we find in plants and fruits, espceially in carrots and colorful vegetables!

Beta carotene is converted in to vitamin A, which is an essential vitamin. Essential vitamins have to be taken in from foods; they are not manufactured by our bodies.

Beta carotene may slow cognitive decline!

You can listen to this page!
Please note! The audio file will be posted here shortly! I have a video down below on this page!

What Does Vitamin A Do For Us?

The body converts beta carotene into vitamin A which is retinol! Our bodies need vitamin A for:

  • Healthy skin
  • Eye health and vision
  • Mucus membranes
  • Immune system

Antioxidant And A Carotenoid

Carotenoids are plant pigments they provide the bright red, yellow and orange hues in fruits and vegetables, and the leaves of trees!

Carotenoids also provide protective health benefits for people as well as for for plants!

As an antioxidant, beta carotene helps to protect us from free radicals, and this lowers the risk of developing cancer and heart disease!

How Much Should We Take?

One article from a medical journal suggests that adults and teenagers can take between 6 to 15 milligrams of beta-caroten, the equivalent of 5,000 to 10,000 Units of vitamin A per day! Note: I always take a small amount of a supplement, to start, and then I increase over time!

What Type Of Vitamin A?

In my product list, below you will see a preferred product of Beta Carotene 25,000 IU that is from the NOW brand. This is a brand that was recommended to me from a source that I trust.

If a supplement is real, it will heal!

How Does It Work?

Beta-carotene and other carotenoids are an inactive form of the vitamin A found in plants. These compounds are converted to retinol which is the active form of vitamin A - in your small intestine.

A Deficiency In Vitamin A?

A deficiency in vitamin A can increase our susceptiblity to infections and delay our recovery when we are sick.

In countries where measles and maleria are common, when they correct the vitamin A deficiency in children, there has been a decreased risk of dying from these diseases.*

Treating Acne

Blackheads and specifically acne have been treated by using vitamin A, beta-carotene, and painful spots on the face, back and chest. A deficiency in vitamin A can bring about an over-production of the protein keratin in our hair follicles.

Bone Health Controversey

A deficiency as well as an overload of vitamin A has been linked to bone fractures and poor bone health! People with lower blood levels of this vitamin are at risk for bone fractures! But, people with high intakes of vitamin A also showed a higher risk of fractures!

They say that vitamin D also plays a role in bone health and fractures!*

Below is one of my videos speaking about my use of Vitamin A - one that is already converted to vitamin A! And I describe exactly how Vitamin A works specifically for my night vision.
