What Are Phytonutrients?

Cranberries, i.e.

are in the top five on a list of foods that are called Phytonutrients. See: Cranberry Juice, Fruit, Oil
Phytonutrients a.k.a., phytochemicals are superfoods, for the plants they come from.

They provide for the plants, a defense against parasites and protect the plants from radiation, and damage from UV rays!

Phytonutrients also have important benefits for the humans who eat them!

Although these foods, see the list below, affect human health in a significant way, they are not considered nutrients that are essential for life; such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats and minerals!

The most common sources of phytonutrients are:

  • fruits
  • vegetables
  • whole grains
  • tea
  • beans
  • and spices

Very soon, I will be taking a closer look at the Cranberry! ~`Cranberry Juice, Fruit, Extract

This particular source of phytonutrient is one that I like to take in supplement form!

The benefit I receive from taking a cranberry supplement is that it can definitely
prevent the occurrence of a urinary tract infection (U.T.I.)!

The way that cranberries prevent U.T.I.'s is that they stop bacteria from being able to collect on the walls of the urinary tract lining! See: Bladder Troubles

Bacteria is one of the top reasons for troubles with the urinary tract!

Another situation that affects the bladder and the urinary tract is the buildup of too much calcium!

What frequently happens for me, is that I don't get enough magnesium!

And, magnesium is the mineral that counter-blances the calcium stores in our bodies! I've got an entire section in my magazine, devoted just to magnesium!

Magnesium deficiency is a widespread problem and it is at the root of many types of sickness. ~`
